Construction Fall Deepens UK Recession

GDP figures from ONS show that the UK’s recession deepened further in the second quarter of 2012, led predominantly by further sharp falls in construction activity. Whilst overall, the UK economy shrank by 0.7% between Q1 and Q2, construction fell 5.2% over that same period, indicating that the construction sector was now in a deep depression, despite a number of recent initiatives by government to spur growth.

Dieffenbacher To Supply Particleboard Plant To China

In May 2012  Dieffenbacher was awarded a 300,000 m3/yr  particle board plant by Chinese Company Hong Wei Woods Industry . The first board is set to roll off the production line in early September 2013, with the hand-over of the plant due to occur in December 2013. Dieffenbacher supplying is the entire plant from wood preparation to raw board handling including a CPS 295–26.41 continuous press.

New-Home Sales Decline

Sales of newly built, single-family homes slowed 8.4 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 350,000 units in June following an upwardly revised, strong pace in the previous month, according to figures released today by HUD and the U.S. Census Bureau.
