FINAL PLANNING RULES AMERICAN FORESTS

Forests are an integral part of the US economy. The US Department of Agriculture’s final Planning Rule for America’s 193 million – acre National Forest System was announced by Agriculture Secretary, Tom Vilsack on March 23,2012.  The new rule has been drafted to protect the natural resources while allowing for timber harvest and encouraging restoration.
